Humana.mente, Volume 8 : Models of Time

Philosophy and logic of time have increased as having a number of application to different fields: philosophy of physics, logic of agency, indeterminism, metaphyiscs and computer science among others. However, the common source of many of these applications is scarcely recognized and a
general synopsis of the main problems lacks.

In virtue of this, Humana.mente is planning an issue on the topic, to be entitled “Models of Time” and to be published in January/February 2009. Aim of the issue is to introduce a critical synopsis of the main topics in the philosophy of time. It is to include both historical survey and purely theoretical reflection.

We invite submissions of papers on the following topics:

1. Time Realism/Anti-Realism and their connections with McTaggart’s Argument
2. Logics of earlier/later, Tense Logics and their connections with the philosophical debate A-series vs B-series
3. Indeterminism and Anti-Actualism
4. Time and models of time in contemporary physics (relativity, quantum theory, etc.)

Any paper is open to advanced topics, to be connected to an introduction that can enable non specialists to understand the rationale of the author’s proposal.
