Tilburg University offers a Master’s Programme in Philosophy especially catering to students who want to prepare for a career in research. The programme, a joint venture with the Faculty of Philosophy at Radboud University Nijmegen, has a duration of two years and is taught in English. Visiting Fellowships, The Tilburg Center for Logic and Philosophy, University of Tilburg, The Netherlands
The Tilburg Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science (TiLPS; http://www.uvt.nl/tilps) invites applications for three-months visiting fellowships in the academic year 2010/11 (1 September – 30 November or 1 February to 30 April) intended for advanced Ph.D. students or faculty. Candidates should work in one of the areas TiLPS covers and have a commitment to interdisciplinary and collaborative work.

1) Templeton Research Fellowships in Early Modern Philosophy for 2010 – 2011
Center for Philosophy of Religion
The Templeton Research Fellows in Early Modern Philosophy, hosted by the Center for Philosophy of Religion at the University of Notre Dame, will provide one-year awards to at least two applicants, open rank, for the purpose of undertaking cutting edge research on topics in early modern philosophy of religion. Fellows will be expected to spend the year in residence at the University of Notre Dame interacting with leading scholars in early modern and contemporary philosophy of religion.
Each successful applicant will receive a total fellowship award of $55,000 to $85,000. Stipend will depend on rank and circumstances of the applicant, and up to $15,000 of each award may be received as reimbursement for travel, re-location, or research-related expenses.
In addition, fellows will have joint access to up to $15,000 to convene a two-day workshop in the late spring of 2011 on the theme of the problem of evil in early modern philosophy and theology. (All administrative details will be handled by Center staff.) Additional money will be available to invite outside scholars of interest to the fellows for brief visits during their tenure. Fellowships begin in July 2010 and conclude in June 2011.

CFA: NEW Four Year PhD Program in Political and Social Thought at the University of Western Sydney, Australia
The Centre for Citizenship and Public Policy at the University of Western Sydney announces a new four year PhD program in Political and Social Thought that includes a compulsory first year of advanced graduate coursework followed by a supervised research thesis. Scholarships of up to four years are available to domestic and international students. Applications for a place in the initial 2010 intake are due to the Centre by mid October.

The Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas, through the Coordinación de Humanidades, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) offers postdoctoral research fellowships. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to a) carry out their proposed research, and publish some of its results; b) work full time in the research project; c) participate in the academic activities of the Institute, as well as in group research projects; d) supervise the work of undergraduates and graduates, and teach one course during the year of the fellowship. Knowledge of Spanish is not required, but successful non-Spanish speaking applicants will be expected to learn the language during their stay.
UNAM offers fellowships two times a year:
Period I: for fellowships starting in September 1, 2009, the deadline is May 14, 2009.
Period II: for fellowships starting in March 1, 2010, the deadline is October 7, 2009.
All the documents must be received by this date.
The starting date of the fellowship is not deferrable.
Duration: one year, with a possible extension of a second year.
Grant: $1,650 US per month ($23,000 Mexican pesos) (two-bedroom apartments near campus are approximately $450 US per month)
Requirements: PhD, awarded in a period no longer than 3 years before the beginning of the fellowship. Applicants should be younger than 36 at the time of the beginning of the fellowship.

Applications are invited for a fixed-term Research Fellowship at the Future of Humanity Institute. The Fellowship is available for two years from the date of appointment.
The Future of Humanity Institute is a unique multidisciplinary research institute at the University of Oxford. It is part of the James Martin 21st Century School, and is hosted by the Oxford Faculty of Philosophy. FHI’s mission is to bring excellent scholarship to bear on big-picture questions for humanity. Current work areas include global catastrophic risks, probabilistic methodology and applied epistemology & rationality, impacts of future technologies, and ethical issues related to human enhancement.
The successful candidate will be expected to: develop and implement an independent program of research related to one or more of the Institute’s focus areas; provide research assistance to the Institute’s director, Professor Nick Bostrom; and to participate in examining and administrative duties for the Faculty of Philosophy as required.
The successful applicant will show evidence of exceptional academic research potential and outstanding intellectual capacity. Academic discipline and specialization are open but should be directly relevant to at least one of FHI’s work areas.

Princeton University Postdoctoral Fellowships, 2010-2013
The Princeton Society of Fellows, an interdisciplinary group of scholars
in the humanities, social sciences, and selected natural sciences,
invites applications for the 2010-2013 fellowship competition. Three
fellowships will be awarded: Open Fellowship (all disciplines
represented in the Society of Fellows), Fellowship in Humanistic
Studies, and Fellowship in Latin American Studies.
Applicants for either of the specialized fellowships may also apply for
an Open fellowship. Please see website (listed below) for application

Hosted jointly by the Humanities Council and academic departments,
Postdoctoral Fellows pursue their research and teach half-time for a
term of three years. The postdoctoral fellowship carries with it an
appointment as a Lecturer. In each of the first two years, Fellows
typically teach one course each semester. In their third year, Fellows
teach only one course while remaining in residence at Princeton.
Fellows must reside in or near Princeton during the academic year. The
stipend for 2010-2011 will be approximately $72,000. Non-US citizens may
apply. Recipients of doctoral degrees in Education, Jurisprudence, and
holders of PhD degrees from Princeton University, are not eligible.
Selection is based on scholarly excellence, range and quality of
teaching experience, and potential contributions to an interdisciplinary
community.
Candidates must have received their PhD degree after January 1st, 2007.
Those candidates who will not have their PhD by the time they apply but
are expected to have fulfilled all conditions for the PhD degree,
including filing the dissertation, by June 15th, 2010 may apply for a

A Two-Year, Fixed Term Postdoctoral Fellowship in Philosophy at Wuhan
A fixed-term research and teaching postdoctoral fellowship in philosophy is available from September 2009 for two years in the School of Philosophy at Wuhan University, China. The fellow will work in coordination with a faculty member at Wuhan. The successful candidate must have obtained his or her doctoral degree by May, 2009, no earlier than May, 2004. He or she will demonstrate potential for producing outstanding research in the areas of metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, comparative philosophy, Chinese philosophy, phenomenology within the period of the Fellowship. The candidate is expected to have an original, well-argued research proposal covering relevant topics, including publication plans for articles. Some knowledge of Chinese would be preferred, but not required. Considerations will be preferred to those candidates who obtained or will obtain their degrees at English-speaking universities. All applicants will be informed of the result in the middle of July, 2009.
Job description:
(1) The fellow will teach one course per semester, two courses per academic year. The language of instruction is English. No knowledge for Chinese language is required.
(2) The fellow is required to be in residency for 2 years.
(3) The fellow should work to a goal of at least two articles accepted for publication by good journals and in press within the period of the Fellowship.
(4) At the end of the tenure, the fellow should finish a book-length work and defend it in front of the postdoctoral committee.
The grant consists of:
(1) A stipend of 3000 yuan per month for 24 months;
(2) A free housing;
(3) Health insurance (the same as faculty members’)
(4) Eligible for applying research fund in the amounts of 30,000-
50,000 yuan from the Ministry of Education of China.
